Reflection On Ethics And Leadership - 1722 Words

Understanding the growth and meaning of ethics, the role of ethical theory in defining suitable character and conduct, and the connection between ethics and leadership will assist this student in becoming both a well-respected and ethical educational leader. For this multiple portion assignment, this student will first describe her belief of the definition of ethics, the character traits, and conduct of ethical, educational leaders. Secondly, she will defend the identification of an ethical plan scenario designated by the professor. Initially, this student believed she was well educated on the issues of ethics because she was required to take yearly ethic training sessions for her place of employment. They must also warrant that the organization and procedures they manage are not predisposed to ethical threats and that they shape cultures that inspire and support ethical actions by others. Ethical leadership comprises of responsibility for the actions of others and the instruments that influence those behaviors. Becoming an ethical leader is an educational voyage that requires constant and profound reflection on failures and successes. For the second portion of this assignment, this student was to review the ethical dilemma provided by the professor. She was then to utilize Badaracco’s (1992) four-question framework to examine â€Å"right-vs.-right† ethical dilemmas as communicated by Christensen and Boneck (2010). She is also to defend the documentation of an ethical strategy to decrease her budget expenses for the next school year to the board of education. She is to utilize the proposed reductions from her school district budget committee. Several decisions are difficult for experienced educational leaders who do not involve a defined or simple right or wrong choice. She needs to find a course of action to resolve this particular ethical dilemma.
